Apple cider vinegar has been known to assist the body in its detox reaction to unwanted toxins and for helping maintain healthy weight levels.
It's always good to be wary of anything promising to magically reduce your waistline - however, while it’s certainly not magic (#science), there are some studies that show ACV could actually support healthy weight levels.
How Does Apple Cider Vinegar Support Weight Loss?
One study in humans showed weight loss that was dose-dependent, and increased throughout the duration of the study.
The average weight loss in 12 weeks appeared to be 1.2 kg for a group with the dosage of 15-mL and 1.9 kg for the 30-mL group, with both groups regaining some weight 4 weeks after ending the study and intake of ACV.
Studies show vinegar helps slow the speed at which glucose (sugar) enters the blood, and could help lower high glucose levels and insulin secretion.
(It’s important to note that ACV doesn’t reduce glucose absorption overall - but only slows its absorption over time.)
