In the past, protein powders are mainly associated with people who goes to the gym and body building. Recently there’s a big trend of people going for protein powders. Why is that so?

Proteins are essential nutrients for the human body. They are one of the critical building blocks of body tissue and can also serve as a source of energy, higher density than carbohydrates.

Studies have shown that people who consume meat in their diet, may not be sufficiently getting good quality protein. One has to also consider, meat is not like what it used to be as land and sea farms are more focused on quantity over quality to meet the increasing demand.

Coupled by more demanding lifestyles and workload, more people also finding muscle and joint pains that may also result from insufficient good quality protein to help rebuild tissues that are damaged or inflamed.

We have to acknowledge that as we age, our bodies are not as efficient in breaking down and absorbing protein nutrients as before, resulting in what we see as ‘shrinking’ muscles and form as we get older. Hence, supplementing our diet with good quality protein powders help maintain our well-being.
